I came here when doing some searches about DreamHost's quality, Patrik. I recently signed up with them, and effectively am pleased as punch with them so far. You cite some great reasons — I don't have any referrals yet, but let me say I sure am looking forward to them because it certainly gives me useful incentive to stay on, provided their services are reliable.

DreamHost's allowed storage capacity and monthly bandwidth transfer quota are incredibly, freakin' YUGE. I don't think I could use that all, but if I ever got close, I'd be glad to know it'd just get larger in another week, giving me some breathing room.

Their blog seriously rules, I wish more company blogs were like that. Know any others which set such a great example? (Their pictures slay me, just about each and every time!)

Paul: Thanks for the comment! Maybe that's one of the reasons he's started to look at other brands as well. Talking to both Canon and Nikon people broadens the audience, generating more traffic and revenue. And maybe even increases his inflluence as a multiple-brand review site will be seen as more credible.

As to why he's so influential I believe it has a lot to do with his direct recommendations and the volume of information on his site. He's obviously tested a lot of equipment. Of course, he could be completely wrong all the time. I don't think so, but who knows?

It's amazing how much influence a guy like Rockwell can have...he's having a great time writing his controversial reviews, generating traffic, getting his referral cheques in the mail - as a money maker he's obviously doing a great job.

I for one cannot understand how people can take anything he says as being unbiased when his site has so many fingers (links) in other pies...

In China I would definitely play on the brand being global. Yes, people are proud about brands like Lenovo, because for the first time Chinese brands are starting to compete outside China, but in my experience most Chinese consumers still prefer international brands before local if they can afford it.

Tarifs makes imported international brands like Absolut, Porche or Lancome more expensive than in the West, they are still performing well. Chinese mobile phones, for example Bird, are half the price of Nokia, Motorola or Samsung, but still don't stand a chance in competition.
